Major Johnson Finley — artistically known as MAJOR., is a Texas native and Berklee College of Music graduate — rose to fame after one of his YouTube videos went viral. He’s a passionate storyteller armed with a smooth soulful baritone and signature falsetto, which is reflected in his hit song “Why I Love You”. That song quickly became as Stevie Wonder say a wedding favorite for couples around the world. The Video has accumulated more than 120 million views on YouTube and landed on Billboard’s top 20 for over 16 weeks.
In his newly Grammy nominated song “Honest,” MAJOR. takes his fans on a mesmerizing vocal ride that operates at a level that surfs the sky, but also achieves a minimalist beauty that is in stark contrast to the brash cockiness his name suggests. The record, a successful debut in its own right charting at #5 on the Billboard Urban/AC chart and finding massive streaming numbers contributed by over 20 countries, really went viral following a live performance where MAJOR. serenaded Halle Berry prompting the actress to say that his music has “rearranged her life perspective.” An often-overused reference “To whom much is given, much is expected,” certainly applies here.
